Tamera Mowry-Housley’s Emotional Interview on the Backlash from their Interracial Marriage

tameraTamera Mowry-Housley is overcome with emotion over racist comments and messages

To say the least, I was touched, but very disturbed by this interview with the Mowry Twins on Oprah’s, Where Are They Now, but nothing could prepare me for this tamera-and-tia-get-emotional-emotional admission from Tamera, Actress, Reality Show Star and now Talk Show Host, as she opens up, and speaks out on her interracial marriage, and how she feels about the evil and racist comments on Social Media, toward her and Husband, Adam Housley.  Tamera breaks down in tears, as she explains the comments they encounter from others.

She’s been called, “A White Man’s Whore!”  She goes on to say that the new one she hears is, “Back in the day, you cost $300, but now you’re giving it to him for free.”

Even in this day and age, there is still real ignorance toward interracial relationships.

Tamera says, “I couldn’t even fathom or think of these words, because I’m a product of it. My mom is a beautiful black woman and my dad is an amazing white man, and I grew up seeing a family. I didn’t grow up saying, ‘Oh, that’s a white man.’”

Tamera says, “I love my husband so much. “I love our family. I love our dynamic. I’m proud to be in the relationship I am because it’s based on love. Pure love.”

Love doesn’t come with a color wheel.  Just because there are still some very ignorant and racist people out there, doesn’t give them the right to impose their beliefs upon others.

How Did I Survive Life After Heartbreak?

How did I survive life after Heartbreak

I hear my clients say all the time:

  • Maybe I’m not meant to be with anyone
  • I don’t think I can survive another failed relationship
  • At least I have someone
  • What’s wrong with me?

NO NO NO – stop that foolishness

Well, let me tell you:

I dated someone for years that was a compulsive liar, and a repeat offender of cheating.  I continued to forgive him – I know what you’re thinking – who in their right mind would stay with someone like that?  I asked myself the same thing, and thought I would never escape my self doubt and insecurities.  See, it wasn’t him to blame for the madness, it was me for not thinking I could do better, but YES, I survived, and I’m free.  I’m free mentally, physically and emotionally.

I took my power back, and I no longer felt like I had to depend on someone else for my happiness. HA – so guess what?  I win and his loss!

There is life after Heartbreak!

You name it, I’ve been through it, as a lot of us have, but I covered up my insecurities with sex and  loveless relationships!  Judge me if you want, but I feel like someone lifted a mack truck off my heart.  My biggest breakthrough came when I had a complete meltdown in the middle of my bedroom floor.  Crying uncontrollably, and releasing the toxins and stench of deceit.

After I realized I didn’t love myself enough, I started counseling, I prayed and I finally started confiding in my close friends.  I needed an outlet, and I was no longer going to hold this all in.  To my surprise, there were other women going through, or had been through something similar.

So, for those of you who may be struggling with this same issue, here’s what helped me:

  • I had an accountability partner who I called when I thought I was getting weak
  • I remained in counseling
  • I stayed prayed up

If you don’t seek help, you will continue to repeat and attract the same characteristics in men!

IN BETWEEN THESE STEPS, I CRIED A LOT, SOMETIMES DOUBTED MYSELF & EVEN SLIPPED UP AND CALLED HIM, BUT I DIDN’T GET TOO DOWN ON MYSELF, THAT I COULDN’T RECOVER, GET BACK UP & KEEP IT MOVING…

  • I actually wrote down the things that happened, where it took a turn and why I stayed so long
  • I stayed away from dating until I was healed and able to trust
  • I FORGAVE HIM, AND THEN I FORGAVE MYSELF

Forgiveness was key, but I also had to get to the core of the problem, and why I thought any of this was okay.  Counseling definitely helped me with this, and boy oh boy did I get clarity, and the true healing began…

What was my core problem?  It was the negative seeds mentally planted throughout my life, that I never knew would contribute to my dysfunctional relationship habits.

Series: WHAT ARE YOU MAD ABOUT TODAY?

I decided to do a Blog Series:  WHAT ARE YOU MAD ABOUT TODAY?

As I am afforded the opportunity to travel the States, I find myself up against some angry woman, snarling or rolling her eyes at me.  I often find myself saying, “Does she need a hug?”  We hoard all this pinned up anger, and unleash it like a roaring beast on any and everything that crosses our paths.  I’ve witnessed the most beautiful women, be the ugliest women ever!  It doesn’t take much, because we automatically walk around with a chip on our shoulders – ready for battle!  Get over it, yourself and stop allowing every little thing and everyone to steal your joy, and trying to steal everyone else’s.

Today – I waited an hour to be seated, and now you’re going to seat me in this not-so-fit booth, and now to add injury to insult, you want to seat me at this table in the middle of the restaurant?  I want to speak with the Manager.  I’m unhappy, I’ve been waiting over an hour, and you’re going to find us a seat.  Another customer is so embarrassed, that they offer to change with you, so you can be seated, but yet that’s still unacceptable and not good enough!  This place is ridiculous, and the customer service is horrible.  We are leaving and never coming back here again.  THANK GOD, BECAUSE NO ONE WANTS YOU HERE ANYWAY!

Now, what did you accomplish here, but:

  1. Waited in line for over an hour
  2. embarrass yourself in front of a crowd of strangers
  3. Prove how ugly your heart is, despite your undeniably beautiful face
  4. Leave the restaurant even more hungry than you did before you came…
  5. NOTHING!!!

HELLO:  NO ONE WANTS AN ANGRY LOUD MOUTH!  SHUT THE “*)#^” UP, AND STOP WITH ALL THE UNNECESSARY DRAMA!

“People may not remember what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel.” – Unknown
